You do not want to miss these Florida solar energy rebates if you own a home and/or a business. FPL launched a new pilot program to help make small scale solar power more affordable for more customers.
The funding is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and Zager Plumbing & Solar, Inc. is working with current and new customers to help them take full advantage of these rebates. Be aware that all systems must be installed by licensed solar contractors and Zager offers full licensed services from initial design through final installation and service.
FPL states that interested customers should begin exploring florida solar energy rebates options as soon as possible. All information and applications must be filled out and submitted before the rebates become open on March, 2012.
Zager Plumbing and Solar will handle all the details for you and ensure that your completed FPL application is filed at the very earliest date and time. In order to take advantage of the incentives, your Florida solar energy rebate application must be submitted to FPL by March, 2012.
Note: In addition to the FPL residential and business customer solar energy rebate programs outlined below, Florida Power & Light is partnering with not-for-profit organizations to install solar water heaters in new construction for low-income families; they also plan to install at least one Next Generation Solar Education Station in 28 school districts throughout Florida.
Business Solar Water Heating- The Rebate:

Variable based on the size of the system installed: $30.00 per 1000 BTUh/day of the maximum rated output of the installed system, up to $50,000.00 per premise during the life of the program.
FPL Business customers can apply for for florida solar energy rebates for multiple locationsup to a limit of $150,000.00 per funding year. See our Contact Information below and we will answer all your questions so you understand exactly what all this means.
Business Solar PV- The Rebate:
Amounts varies depending on the DC rating of the solar panels:
- $2 per direct current (DC) watt nameplate rating of the solar panel up to the first 10 Kilowatts:
- $1.50 per DC watt nameplate rating of the solar panel from 10kW up to 25 kW;and
- $1 per DC watt nameplate rating of the solar panel greater than 25 kW
- For example, a 28 kW system would receivie $2 per watt for the first 10kW, $1.50 per watt for the next 15kW and $1 per watt for the remaining 3 kW, totaling a rebate of $45,500.00
FPL Customers can receive one rebate of up to $50,000 per premise during the life of the program. Customers with multiple locations can apply for rebates for multiple locations up to a limit of $150,000 per funding year.
Residential Solar Water Heating- The Rebate:
$1,000 for every new residential solar water heater. The rebate is available to all existing FPL residential with gas or electric water heating.
A solar water heater can cut a family's water-heating costs by up to 85 percent, according to the Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC)
Residential Solar PV - The Rebate:
$2 per watt of the DC output of a PV system up to $20,000. This Florida solar energy rebate is available to all existing FPL residential customers in existing dwellings. The rebates are not available for new construction oor PV systems already installed. Applicants must be current account holders of the prmise where the solar photovoltaic system is being installed.
Custoemers should choose products and contractors carefully, given the many variables involved. The customer is solely responsible for selecting, hiring and managing the contractor who will install the eligible solar products. FPL bears no responsibility for the quality or performance of any products or contractors chosen by the customer.

Per EIA (U.S.) Energy Information Administration) the average residentail retail price for the electricity increased 60% from 1999 to 2009.
- FPL residential retail rate is $ 10,81 cents/kW
- 5kW average installed cost $25,000
- Federal rebate 25,000 X .30 = $7,500
- FPL rebate 50000 X $2,00 = $10,000
- Customer cost = $7,500
- Per PV Watts a 5kW produces 6537 kwh per year saving the customer $706.65 in the first year and over $1,0000 in the 8th year.
- A typical system recoups its cost in the 8th year, and returns all savings the rest of its service time.
