Zager Plumbing & Solar, Inc.'s Tips for Going Green - Change to fluorescent light bulbs - If every household in the U.S. changed all of the lightbulbs in their house, that would be the equivalent to taking 1 million cars off the streets.
- Shut down and unplug electronics - Make small changes to use (and pay) for less energy, like shutting down your computer when you're not using it.
- Wash your clothes in cold water - By using cold water instead of warm, the average household can avoid emitting a huge amount of carbon dioxide and save on energy bills.
- Reset your thermostat - A few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer is not only cost-effective, it's energy efficient.
- Take shorter showers - This will reduce water use and lower your water and heating bills too.
