Residential solar power systems have come a long way in the past few years due to improved solar technology and lower costs for manufacturing. There has never been a better time to become your own power producer.
We can help you generate your own electricity by putting one of our custom designed home solar power systems on your home today.br>
In order to meet the requirements for the federal and FPL solar rebates, the solar electric system must meet these requirements:
1) No shade on the solar panels (collectors) from 9 am to 3 pm
2) Have 10 - 15 square feet of solar collector area for each person in the home (ie. 3 people = 30 - 45 sq. ft)
3) The solar collectors must face south or as close to south as possible
4) The storage tank for the solar heated water (if a solar hot water system) must hold 20 - 30 gallons per person. (A typical tank holds 80 gallons for a 3 - 4 person home.)
Home solar systems for generating electricity come in several types depending on your unique situation:
- Grid-Tie Systems are interconnected with your current electric utility system. These are possible in areas that allow net metering, whereby your solar powered system actually turns your electric meter backwards when it is producing more power than you are using. This system provides no backup power for your home when the utility system fails.
- Grid-Tie Systems with Battery Backup feeds excess solar electricity to the grid and provides backup power when the utility grid is down. We can design these systems to maximize the amount of backup power you have by specifying the size of batteries needed based on your electrical loads. No need to worry about the details because we can design your system to your needs and explain all the details in language you can understand.
- Off-Grid Systems is a residential solar power system that is independent of the utility grid. It uses solar modules to produce the electricity you need when you need it. Home owners with this type of system usually have a gas or diesel generator for backup when the solar power system does not meet all of their needs.
